Protecting your personal data and privacy is something the Helsana Group (hereinafter referred to as “Helsana”) cares a lot about. We have taken technical and organisational measures which ensure that the legal regulations on data protection are complied with. Below we explain to you how the data is handled which is captured, processed and used during your visit to our websites.
Helsana may update the Policy at any time. That is why we recommend that you check the Policy at regular intervals. The date of the most recent amendment is specified at the end of this Policy.
This Policy applies to all information which we receive during your visit to the Helsana websites. The Policy does not apply to websites which are operated by third parties or under their control and are not affiliated with Helsana. Our websites may contain links to such third-party websites. We therefore request that you consult the respective privacy policies of said third-party websites, because they are outside of Helsana’s sphere of influence and thus do not lie in our area of responsibility.
Scope and intended use of the information collected
When you visit the Helsana websites, our Web server automatically registers details of your access (for instance the date and time of your visit, which browser you are using and your IP address).
However, you have a choice as to whether you provide us with personal details (e.g. telephone number, e-mail address, address, date of birth, premium details) via the Helsana websites, such as via the premium calculator or contact forms.
Helsana uses your personal data
- for the purpose of optimising and continuously further developing the websites, so as to make them customer-friendly and unique,
- for personalised marketing
- and to inform you of new or existing products and services of the Helsana Group and its partner companies.
Collection and storage of your data
Helsana makes use of so-called tracking technologies like cookies or tags. When you visit our websites, cookies are installed on your computer’s hard disk in the form of a small text file. The next time you visit our websites, you will have faster and easier access. This means, for example, that you do not have to keep adjusting the language settings each time you visit the site. Cookies help Helsana to improve its service to the client and to recognise customers who have visited the website in the past.
Most browsers come with a disabling function that allows users to prevent cookies from being accepted automatically and to delete cookies already stored on the system. If you do not want cookies to be stored on your system, you can change your browser settings so that cookies have either to be approved before being stored, or are rejected automatically. However, for ease of navigation, Helsana recommends that you accept cookies and do not delete them. Disabling cookies can mean that interactive functions on our websites do not function properly.
Helsana uses various cookies to ensure that its websites are needs-based and user-friendly:
Performance and tracking cookies
On the one hand, these cookies enable us to engage in needs-based offer marketing and, on the other hand, they give us the option of continuously improving our websites in order to offer you the best possible user experience.
Functional cookies improve your user experience on Helsana websites by storing your user settings such as language preference.
Technical cookies guarantee the functionality of the Helsana websites and are absolutely essential in order to be able to use the full scope of the websites without any restrictions.
The information which Helsana stores about you as a website visitor may identify you personally or as a Helsana policyholder.
Use of Google Analytics
Our websites use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google Inc. ("Google"). Google Analytics also uses so-called "cookies", which are text files stored on your computer that enable an analysis to be carried out on how you use the websites. The information generated by the cookie regarding your use of our websites is as a rule transmitted to a Google server in the USA and stored there. We have activated IP anonymisation, which means your IP address is shortened beforehand by Google within EU Member States or in other countries which are signatories to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be transmitted to a Google server in the USA and shortened there. Google will use this information on our behalf to evaluate our use of the websites, to compile reports on website activity and to provide other services relating to the use of the websites and Internet. The IP address transmitted by your browser as part of Google Analytics will not be combined with other Google data.
Passing on the information collected on you via the Helsana websites
The data captured via the Helsana websites may be passed on without any restrictions to companies with a shareholding in the Helsana Group (members of the Helsana Group are: Helsana Supplementary Insurances Ltd, Helsana Insurance Company Ltd, Progrès Insurance Company Ltd, Helsana Accidents Ltd, Helsana Investment Ltd. and Procare Providence Ltd.), as well as their and its own contractors and third-party suppliers, in Switzerland and abroad, for the aforementioned purposes.
All service providers who process data captured via the Helsana websites absolutely have to comply with data protection legislation. Helsana concludes agreements to ensure that data recipients guarantee adequate data protection at all times. These of course also include the technical and organisational measures relating to data security.
We may also pass your data captured via the Helsana websites on to the authorities, insofar as we are obliged or permitted to do so by law.
We protect your personal data captured via the Helsana websites through appropriate technical and organisational measures against unauthorised processing, loss and destruction.
We ensure the confidentiality, availability and integrity of the data.
Getting in touch electronically
Please note that unencrypted e-mails are neither a safe nor suitable means by which to exchange personal data or other confidential information.
Please be aware that if you include personal information in an e-mail without taking the necessary precautions, unauthorised third parties could intercept that data and use or even falsify it without your consent. Personal data contained in an e-mail could possibly also be sent abroad, even though the sender and the recipient are in Switzerland. That means you also have to reckon with the possibility that your personal data may be relayed to a country in which the prevailing standards of data protection are lower than in Switzerland.
If, nevertheless, you decide to contact us and send us your enquiries via unencrypted e-mail, we will assume that it is your express wish to communicate with us in this way. By doing so, you consent to us sending you our reply or the required information also via unencrypted e-mail.
For this reason, we recommend that you get in touch with us directly by using the available contact forms.
