Background

Upper limb orthopaedic surgery is done relatively often. Little is known in the Swiss context about the benefits for patients and the economic aspects of such surgery. This study in the field of Health Services Research investigates the changes in the quality of life and the costs under everyday conditions. The focus falls in particular on the benefits for patients (quality of life, EQ-5D) and the costs of operations to the shoulders and thumbs. Helsana provides data regarding its insured.
