Frequently asked questions

The cost of medical emergencies abroad can be very high – sometimes much higher than in Switzerland. For example, if you become ill or have an accident in a country with high medical costs, such as the US, Japan, Canada or Australia, the costs covered by your basic insurance will be nowhere near enough. And if you need to return to Switzerland for medical treatment – for example in an ambulance jet – this may result in high costs that are not covered by basic insurance.

No, with TOP supplementary healthcare insurance, you are sufficiently insured against medical emergencies while travelling abroad. The same is true for both COMPLETA and OMNIA supplementary healthcare insurance.

WORLD travel insurance is particularly useful for those who would like better cover while travelling abroad and do not have supplementary healthcare insurance.

No, a health declaration is not required to take out WORLD because pre-existing conditions are generally not covered. This means that you cannot make any claims for the cost of treatment for medical conditions or accidents which had already arisen or were known to you before the commencement of the insurance cover or the date on which you booked your travel.
