You can now count your steps with the Helsana Coach app and compete with friends. The “City vs Countryside” step challenge starts on 1 September! Join the team of your choice and get to work collecting steps. The step challenge is a fun way to incorporate more movement into your day-to-day and pick up a new routine in 21 days.
The rules are simple: over 21 days, you and your team need to rack up as many steps as you can each day. The team with the most steps wins. Connect a fitness tracker to the Helsana Coach app to count all your steps and share them with your team. Sign up in the Helsana Coach app under “Challenges”. You can also link your fitness tracker to the Helsana Coach app there. That way, you can record all your steps. The team with the most steps wins!
Each participant earns 30 Plus points for 10,000 steps each day in the Helsana+ app.
Weekly prize for each team’s most active member:
In addition all participants will have a chance to win one out of ten Galaxus vouchers worth CHF 100 each every week.
The person who collects the most steps in the challenge will win the following top prize:
The three people with the most steps in each group will also be identified. They will take 2nd to 6th place and will win the following prize:
The winner of the main prize is excluded from this prize, which is why only five of the six group winners will receive a prize.
Two teams will battle it out: Team City and Team Countryside. You choose which team you’d like to join. Are you a city slicker who loves exploring the city on foot? Or a nature lover who likes to roam through rural landscapes? Show us where your heart lies and choose your team: City or Countryside.
Physical activity is good for your health. But in reality, we spend a lot of our time sitting down. That’s why it’s a good idea to add more movement to your day-to-day. Find out more about movement on our blog.

It doesn’t matter how many people are part of a team. All that counts is the number of steps taken each day, or throughout the entire challenge. At the end, we count up the average of everyone’s steps. The team with the highest average wins.
From 1 to 21 September 2020, you can collect Plus points every day in the Helsana+ app by going to “Menu” > “Collect” > “Challenges”. You get 30 Plus points if you take at least 10,000 steps a day during the step challenge. Your daily steps are displayed in the step challenge page in the Helsana Coach app. For each day that you have taken at least 10,000 steps, take a screenshot of the step count in the Helsana Coach app and submit it for the step challenge in the Helsana+ app (ranking screen or “Menu: Challenges” screen).
Winners of the weekly and top prizes will be notified in writing via email. Weekly prize winners will be announced the following week. Overall prize winners will be informed by email no later than 23 September 2020.
From a technical standpoint, the Helsana Coach app is operated by our partner eTherapists GmbH, which is also the owner of the Helsana Coach app (see the Helsana Coach app terms of use and data protection provisions). eTherapists GmbH records the data under a non-identifying user ID. This means it is not possible to connect the personal details from this data to a specific person. The Helsana Coach app only provides the Helsana+ app with the category and sub-category of activity needed to award Helsana+ Plus points via the anonymous user ID (see the terms of use and data protection provisions). Helsana Supplementary Insurances Ltd therefore does not have access to the data that you generate or store in the Helsana Coach app, such as gender, year of birth, height, allergies or weight.
To award Plus points, Helsana Supplementary Insurances Ltd processes the user ID, the date and completion of the activity (daily session, programme or other), the category (exercise, nutrition, mindfulness) and the subcategory.
eTherapists GmbH processes all the detailed data you enter in the Helsana Coach app. This means that it stores your specific completed daily sessions and programmes (interactions within the app). However, it can never assign this data to individuals without action on your part. The app also records the anonymous user ID for eTherapists as well as the device type, operating system, version and dynamic IP address of the smartphone used (see the terms of use and data protection provisions).
If you delete the app on your mobile phone, this will not automatically lead to the deletion of your data generated with Helsana or with eTherapists GmbH, which runs the Helsana Coach app on our behalf. If you want to delete your user account completely, please use the corresponding function “Delete account” in the Helsana Coach app.
