When someone dies, it is a difficult time for their family, who will need a great deal of strength to cope with things.

How to proceed

At an already difficult time, there is a lot to organise. That’s why we make it as easy as possible for you to report a death. You can notify us of a death in just a few steps. This will help us to complete the necessary formalities. Thank you for taking the time to do this.

What is required?

  • The deceased person’s insurance number
    You will find their insurance number on their insurance card or insurance policy.
  • Proof of death
    A copy of the death certificate (this may be called something else, depending on the canton or local authority) serves as proof of death.
  • Notification of death
    Please notify us of a death by completing the form on this page and returning it to us by post or e-mail (

Various people can notify us of a death, including a partner, close relative or case worker from social services.

We require a copy of the death certificate. Depending on the canton or local authority, this may be called something else. If we need any other documents, we will contact the family.

Yes, premiums are only payable until the date of death. Any excess premiums will be refunded.
