Covering hospitalisation, doctor and drug costs

Should your guest fall ill or have an accident, we will reimburse you – up to the insured sum you select – for the cost of drugs, visits to doctors and stays on the general ward of a hospital, as well as for emergency transportation with a medical escort to the guest's place of residence abroad and/or, in the case of death, return of the body to the guest's last place of residence.

Transportation and recovery costs

The cover includes the costs of emergency transportation to hospital and of search and rescue operations (up to max. 10% of the selected insured sum).

What does basic insurance cover?

Costs are not covered by basic insurance. Guests from abroad are liable for their own costs if they become ill or have an accident during their stay in Switzerland.

Why do I need guest insurance?

If you are expecting a visit from friends or relatives from abroad, you want to do everything you can to make sure your guests feel comfortable in Switzerland. This includes being prepared for unexpected events. Because if your guests have an accident or become ill, it can create an unwelcome financial burden.

With guest insurance, you can provide your guests with comprehensive protection against illness and accident, allowing them to enjoy a carefree stay in Switzerland.

Do I have to complete a health declaration to take out guest insurance?

No, guest insurance may be taken out up to five days after arrival in Switzerland without making a health declaration, as pre-existing conditions are generally not insured.

If the policy is taken out later, however, a health declaration is needed.

Can various kinds of guest insurance be taken out?

Yes, you can select from among insured sums ranging from CHF 10,000 to 50,000 per person. Various options for the period of insurance are also available.

Who can take out this insurance?

You can take out this insurance for your guests if they meet the following conditions:

  • Your guests live abroad (official place of residence).
  • Your guests are under the age of 80 at the start of the policy.
How and when can I terminate the insurance?

The guest insurance is valid for the period specified in the insurance policy, up to a maximum of 6 months per visit. After that, it expires automatically, so there is no need to cancel it.
