National Walking Day
Hiking in the idyllic Zurich Oberland
The 9th "Schweizer Familie" National Hiking Day takes place in Wald (ZH) on 10 September 2016. Patrons of this year's event include the presenter Susanne Kunz, yodeller Melanie Oesch and actor Erich Vock. Choose one of the three accompanied hiking routes, ranging from easy to challenging, to explore the Bachtel, the Zurich Oberland's striking "own" mountain, or discover the routes by yourself. You'll be surprised how much there is to discover along the routes apart from beautiful scenery with waterfalls and streams.
After experiencing nature, hikers will meet at the "Bleiche-Areal" festival area with music, games, refreshments and regional market stands. Enjoy a relaxing Shiatsu massage offered by Helsana after the hike or take a journey through the region's interesting history of textiles. Children can participate in performances by the Pipistrello children's circus or visit the petting zoo and there is also a bouncy castle, an exciting Swiss wrestling show and lots more. Oesch's die Dritten will be performing in the festival marquee at the "Bleiche-Areal" in the early evening (4.30 p.m. 1st set, 9.15 p.m. 2nd set), as will the newcomer band Josh (6.00 p.m.) and Les Sauterelles (7.15 p.m.).
