The psychiatric clinic La Métairie was founded in 1875 and has 75 beds. The clinic is situated in a park that covers an area of 6 hectares located to the east of Nyon, and comprises five hospital wards and a day clinic.
Swiss Medical Association (FMH) doctors who specialise in psychiatry and psychotherapy, psychologists and an interdisciplinary team of occupational therapists, an art therapist, a sports teacher and a massage therapist take an individual approach to caring for patients from both Switzerland's French-speaking region and abroad. A spa is also available for use.
Treatment is provided for all psychiatric disorders at La Métairie, and there are also special programmes for addiction (alcohol, cocaine, cannabis, etc.), eating disorders and impaired mental state. Elderly and mobility-impaired patients are treated in a special ward adapted to their needs.
New admissions are possible 24 hours a day throughout the year, while day clinics, which are covered by basic health insurance, can receive patients five days a week, thereby guaranteeing intensive use of benefits based around group activities.
