Care report: Competition for quality: a key success factor

In Helsana’s latest report, “Care”, we examined the quality of medical care based on actual care situations.

Care situations put to the test

The report looks at how recommended medical check-ups are performed in Switzerland. Furthermore, it also examined whether patients with diabetes receive care that is in line with guidelines and what the situation is with regard to drug safety. Overview of key findings.

  • Too few recommended medical check-ups are performed.
  • Our analysis found that barely 40 percent of people with diabetes were treated in line with medical guidelines in 2022.
  • In 2022, half a million people were prescribed two or more painkillers within three months. One in four of those – i.e. 125,000 people – were given an inadequate opioid prescription.
