From 1 July 2017, Helsana will provide the operational services that were previously provided by the SBB's MedicalService. This includes medical fitness assessments, clarifications and advisory services. Helsana will retain all employees working for the SBB's MedicalService, the contracts currently in force with third parties and partners, as well as the inventory.

On 1 July 2017, Helsana will take over the services previously provided by SBB AG's MedicalService department, which among other things carries out medical fitness assessments of SBB staff as well as clarifying workplace health and case management. Helsana was awarded the contract after an in-depth review conducted by the SBB.
The takeover of the MedicalService means that Helsana can offer new and attractive services to its corporate customers. Helsana will become one of Switzerland's biggest providers of occupational medical services, a small but fast-growing segment. CEO Daniel H. Schmutz: "Helsana will ensure a seamless transition for the SBB and for the MedicalService's other customers, and guarantees that all current services will be provided to the highest of standards. We will also continue to develop the range of services offered by the MedicalService."
