The Executive Board manages the operations of the Helsana Group. It consists of five members. The CEO has executive operating responsibility and represents the Helsana Group externally.
Daniel H. Schmutz
Daniel H. Schmutz, born 1966, Swiss, has served as CEO of the Helsana Group since July 2010. He joined the Helsana Group as the director of Finance/Services and board member in 2006. Prior to taking this position, Daniel H. Schmutz was employed at SwissLife Group in Zurich as Director of Group Strategy and Controlling. From 1997 to 2002, he was employed at The Boston Consulting Group, Zurich – his last position before leaving was manager – where he served Swiss and international customers in the insurance sector.
Daniel H. Schmutz is a member of the board of Curafutura, a member of the Management Council of the International Federation of Health Plans (IFHP), Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of Solida AG and a member of the board of the promotion company Förderungsgesellschaft I.VW-HSG. He completed his university studies with a lic. rer. publ. (degree in political science, economics and law) at the University of St. Gallen and holds an MBA in Finance from the Wharton School in Philadelphia.
Head of Client Services & Benefits
Rudolf Bruder, born 1970, Swiss, has been with Helsana since 1997 and serves on its Executive Board since 2010. From 2001 to 2010, he acted as Head of Finance and Accounting. From 2010 to 2016 he first served as Head of Finance, and then from April 2015 as Head of Finance and Insurance. Before joining Helsana, Rudolf Bruder was employed at two different banks for nine years – Valiant Bank and Neue Aargauer Bank. Most recently, he served as the Head of Debtor Accounting and Customer Service at Europcar Switzerland.
Rudolf Bruder is Chairman of the Board of Directors of Einkaufsgemeinschaft HSK and member of the Board of Directors of Schaden Service Schweiz AG. He completed a banking apprenticeship, is a business economist HWV (Higher College for Business and Administration) and holds an Executive Master of Corporate Finance.
Head of Marketing & Sales
Jürg Stupp, born 1969, Swiss, has served on the Executive Board of the Helsana Group since July 2010 and has been employed at Helsana since 1996. From 2001 to 2010 he was responsible for planning and controlling within the whole Group as Head of Controlling-, and, from 2010 to 2014, for the Products business area.
Jürg Stupp is Chairman of the Board of Directors of Procare Vorsorge AG, Helsana Rechtsschutz AG and a member of the Board of Directors of Coop Rechtsschutz AG. Before joining Helsana, he worked as a client advisor in the field of institutional investments at Zürcher Kantonalbank. Jürg Stupp is a business economist HWV (Higher College for Business and Administration).
Head Finance & Insurance
Roman Sonderegger, 1973, Swiss, has been Member of the Executive Board of the Helsana Group since May 2017. Roman Sonderegger has many years of experience in the insurance industry. From 2002 to 2011 he held various management positions with CSS Versicherung AG, with his final position being Group Deputy Head of Benefits. He then worked at Assura on behalf of Finma, where he served as CEO as well as CFO a.i. His most recent position was as Advisory Director with Pricewaterhouse Coopers, where he was in charge of health insurance.
Roman Sonderegger is a qualified business economist (School of Economics) and obtained an Executive MBA from the University of St. Gallen.
Head of Information Technology
Hans-Peter Keller, 1967, Swiss, Member of the Executive Board of the Helsana Group since March 2017 and with Helsana since 2010. From 2010 to 2014, he was responsible for the Plan/Change IT division. His most recent position was Head of the Front Solution Group department, where he was responsible for developing, supporting and operating the CRM and front-end systems of Helsana.
Hans-Peter Keller is a qualified IT professional and has an Executive MBA. Before joining Helsana, Hans-Peter Keller was employed by UBS in the field of business engineering. From 2005 to 2007, he was responsible for business engineering financing at Migros Bank.
