Alzheimer’s affects a considerable amount of elderly people. The tendency is increasing given the ongoing demographic changes. While Alzheimer’s disease hasn’t yet experienced a pharmaceutical breakthrough, patients have different treatment options making the course of disease more bearable. However, shouldn’t we at one point examine what works and what doesn’t for the sake of our patients and for the sake of our health care system? This presentation shows the importance of health economics when managing the palliative treatment of dementia.
