Acute care hospitals

Merian Iselin, Basel

Merian Iselin The Merian Iselin hospital is the leading orthopaedic centre in the Basel region. It is a modern hospital which, by allocating beds to affiliated external doctors, allows patients in all insurance classes to choose their doctor, while also covering some of the region's requirements for basic medical care.

Thanks to constant efforts to develop the hospital's medical equipment and infrastructure, the Merian Iselin is one of Switzerland's most modern hospitals. Particularly in its most important specialist field, orthopaedics, intensive efforts are made to guarantee patients surgical interventions that are of the very highest quality. A partnership with the crossklinik enables the hospital to lead the field in sports medicine.

The Merian Iselin specialises in major orthopaedic interventions such as replacement knees and hips. Surgical interventions are also offered in the fields of general surgery, ear, nose and throat medicine, plastic surgery, urology and vascular surgery. In addition, the work done in the fields of diagnostics and therapy and in the laboratory is noted for its outstanding quality. The Merian Iselin was founded in 1898/1918 and offers 120 acute care beds.
