The Helsana Group is the leading health and accident insurer in Switzerland. It offers individuals and companies a complete health and prevention service in the event of sickness and accidents.

Composition

The Board of Directors is composed of the Chairman and eight members. All members of the Board of Directors are Swiss citizens.

Thomas D. Szucs

Thomas D. Szucs Chairman of the Board

Prof. Dr. med. Thomas D. Szucs has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Helsana Group since 2010, and as part of this function is Chairman of the Executive and Remuneration Committee, as well as Chairman of the Investment Committee.

Thomas D. Szucs is Professor and Director of the Institute for Pharmaceutical Medicine at the University of Basel, Switzerland. His research and teaching activity is focused on the areas of pharmacoeconomics, pharmaceuticals policy, healthcare provision research and healthcare technology assessment. He previously served as Head of Health Economics at the Institute of Social and Preventive Medicine of the University of Zurich. Positions he held in the past include the following: Head of Research and founder of the Pharmaeconomics Centre at the University of Milan, Italy; Head of the working group for clinical economics at the University of Munich, Germany; Senior Consultant at Arthur D. Little, Inc.; and Head of the Health Economics Department at Hoffmann-La Roche AG in Basel, Switzerland. Prof. Szucs is also a member of the editorial team of various specialist scientific journals.

After studying medicine and completing his doctorate at the University of Basel, Thomas D. Szucs obtained a Master's degree in business studies from the University of St. Gallen, a Master in public health at Harvard University and a LL.M. in international commercial law at the University of Zurich. He is a specialist recognised by the Swiss Medical Association (FMH) for pharmaceutical medicine, prevention and healthcare. In 2010 he became honorary professor at the University of Peking Health Sciences Centre.

Michela Ferrari-Testa

Michaela Ferrari-Testa Vice President
Michela Ferrari-Testa has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Helsana Group since 2007. She is Vice President of the Board of Directors and a member of the Executive and Remuneration Committee.

Michela Ferrari-Testa has been working as an independent lawyer and notary since 1992. She is involved on a part-time basis in teaching and judicial areas, including membership of the cantonal arbitration tribunal verifying the cost-effectiveness of the services provided by doctors. She also holds several political offices on local authority level in the Canton of Ticino.

Michela Ferrari-Testa studied law at the University of Zurich (lic. iur).

Reto Stump

Reto Stump Vice President
Reto Stump has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Helsana Group since 2012. He is Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors and a member of the Executive and Remuneration Committee.

Reto Stump is Managing Director of the family-run holding Veloxis AG. He is also Managing Director of Stump FORATEC AG, Russikon, Admoveo AG, Russikon, and Swiss Environment SA, Conthey, which belong to the holding.

Reto Stump studied economics at the HWV (Zurich Business School), now the ZHAW (Zurich University of Applied Sciences), Winterthur. He obtained a Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) from the ZHAW in Winterthur in health policy and healthcare systems, as well as a CAS as a paralegal from the ZHAW, Winterthur.

Yves Cuendet

Yves Cuendet Yves Cuendet has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Helsana Group since 2014, and as part of this function is also a member of the Audit and Risk Management Committee.

Yves Cuendet is an independent advisor for the strategic and organisational orientation of SMEs. He was previously a member of the Swiss management of Aon Corp. Prior to that he worked at the André Group and affiliated companies in Switzerland, as well as abroad for 15 years in various positions, most recently as General Secretary.

Yves Cuendet obtained a Master of Science degree in economics from HEC Lausanne.

Jürg Dommer

Jürg Dommer Dr. Jürg Dommer has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Helsana Group since 2013, and serves in this function as a member of the Investment Committee. Furthermore, in his capacity as employer representative, he is a member of the Helsana Insurance Company Ltd. pension fund.

Dr. Jürg Dommer acts as an independent lawyer and public notary and has worked in the health insurance sector since 1992. Until 2004 he was a part-time judge at the insurance court of the Canton of St. Gallen (in the area of invalidity insurance). Prior to that, he worked in the banking sector for several years.

Jürg Dommer obtained his doctorate in law (Dr. iur) at the University of Freiburg.

Benedikt Koch

Benedikt Koch Dr. Benedikt Koch has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Helsana Group since 2016, and serves in this function as employer representative in the Helsana Insurance Company Ltd pension fund.

Dr. Benedikt Koch is the Director of the Swiss Contractors' Association. Prior to this, he had been managing director of Infra Suisse for nine years. From 2002 to 2006, he held various positions in Batigroup AG (which later became Implenia Schweiz AG).

Benedikt Koch graduated from ETH Zurich with a doctorate in engineering sciences (Dr. sc. techn.).

Daniel Loup

Daniel Loup Daniel Loup has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Helsana Group since 2011, and as part of this function is a member of the Investment Committee.

From 2003 to 2012 Daniel Loup was a member of the Executive Board of the Mobiliar Group and Head of Pensions. Prior to that, he was head of marketing and sales at Swiss Life AG and Winterthur Life Insurance.

Severin Moser

Severin Moser Severin Moser has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Helsana Group since 2008, and as part of this function is a member of the Audit and Risk Management Committee.

Severin Moser is Chief Executive Officer of Allianz Suisse. Prior to that, he was Chairman of the Board of Directors of Allianz-Versicherungs-AG Deutschland and member of the Management Board of Allianz Deutschland AG. He joined the Allianz Group in 2007 as a member of the Management Board of Allianz Suisse responsible for the Products division. Before moving to Allianz, Severin Moser was a member of the Management Board of the Winterthur Group.

Severin Moser obtained a Master's degree (lic. oec.) in economics at the University of St. Gallen and is an alumnus of the Advanced Management Program of the Harvard Business School.

Christiane Roth-Godat

Christiane Roth-Godat Dr.med. Christiane Roth-Godat has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Helsana Group since 2008, and as part of this function is Chairwoman of the Audit and Risk Management Committee.

Christiane Roth-Godat is a self-employed business owner. She was part-time general secretary of the Swiss Society for Gynaecology and Obstetrics until the beginning of 2015. From 2000 to 2008 she acted as Chairwoman of the hospital management at the University Hospital Zurich. Prior to that, she was Chairwoman of the university psychiatric services in Berne. From 1991 to 1995 she worked at Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV), initially as the assistant to the medical director and then from 1994 to 1995 as deputy director, responsible for the medical area.

Christiane Roth-Godat studied medicine and obtained her doctor's degree at the University of Berne. She holds a post-graduate degree in health management from the University of Berne.
